The Department of Humanities offers a major program in English for a Bachelor of Arts degree. The English program of study consists of 42 credits, exclusive of the "Special GER" and the language and philosophy requirements for the BA degree. The Department also offers an English Secondary Education Concentration. All majors take a comprehensive examination and produce a writing portfolio for assessment.
Students who are interested in a major in English must have a GPA OF 2.0 or better; must submit a Declaration of Major Form; and must complete an interview with the Chairperson or another faculty member.
Admission Requirements to the English Secondary Education Concentration:
Students may contact the Office of Financial Aid at 410-951-3636 for information on financial aid. The Maryland Higher Education Commission, State Scholarship Administration at 410-260-4511, also provides a variety of financial aid programs. Students seeking financial aid should also contact their State senator or delegate for information on senatorial scholarships.
