Frequently Asked Questions

Q. If I complete an application for admission to the University, do I need to complete a separate application for The Honors Program?

A. Yes. The Honors Program has a separate application and application process. Ask an Admissions Counselor for an Honors Program application, or contact The Honors Program at (410) 951-3388 and an application will be forwarded to you.

Q. If I meet The Honors Program SAT and GPA requirements, am I automatically awarded an Honors Program scholarship?

A. No. Honors Program scholarships are competitive. The Honors Program Dean and Assistant Dean reviews a student's SAT scores, GPA, letters of recommendation as well as the overall appearance of the application to determine admittance into the Program.

Q. If I do not meet The Honors Program's criteria as an incoming first-year student, is there any other opportunity to become a part of The Honors Program?

A. Yes. You may apply for admission to the Upper-Division Honors Program after obtaining at least 45 credits and not more than 60 credits. Qualified students must be full-time and have a 3.5 or better grade point average. The Upper-Division Honors Program scholarship provides $500 each semester the student meets the Program's renewal qualifications.
