The M.A.T. is a graduate degree program that leads to a license to teach (certification) in Maryland, and at least 33 other states in the nation. The program is designed for individuals holding a degree in arts and sciences and career changers. Previous experience or training in education is not required. Individuals who graduate with this degree are eligible for the Maryland State Teaching License in elementary/middle or secondary education.

To be eligible for the M.A.T. program, you should meet the following requirements:
The program requires a minimum of forty-six (46) credit hours in elementary/middle and forty (40) credit hours in the secondary education concentrations, respectively. Students who take 6 credits per semester (including summer sessions) or 18 credits per year may complete the program in approximately three (3) years. Pre-requisite coursework and required coursework not included in the program, as well as PRAXIS I & II may extend program completion time.
