WHAT ARE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
General Education Requirements or GER 40s serve as the core of the undergraduate curriculum. The program consists of a sequence of required courses in communications, the humanities, and fine arts, the natural and physical sciences, mathematics, the behavioral and social sciences, health and human performance designed to expose every undergraduate to the broad range of disciplines essential to the development of a liberally, educated person.

ARE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENTS?
Yes. Students who are admitted with earned college credits thru Advanced Placement, CLEP, or as Transfer students must consult with an Admissions Counselor or Academic Advisor to ensure that appropriate credit is equated with correct General Education Requirements.

WHEN SHOULD I BEGIN THE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
All students are required to begin General Education Requirements upon admission to the university.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE ALL OF MY GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
The General Education Requirements (GER 40s) must be completed by the end of the second year of study.

WILL I BE ABLE TO EARN AN UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE WITHOUT COMPLETING ALL OF THE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (GER 40s)?
No. In order to earn an undergraduate degree all students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 40 credits of General Education Requirements.

IS FRESHMAN SEMINAR (ORIE 101) AND TECHNOLOGY FLUENCY (MISY 150) INCLUDED IN THE GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
No. Although Freshman Seminar (ORIE 101) and Technology Fluency (MISY 150) are not General Education Requirements they are University requirements and are counted as a part of the 120 credits minimum needed for a degree.
