The Coppin State University Dance Ensemble provides students and alumnus an opportunity to work with professional dance artists who have performed professionally for a number of years with national and international dance companies and schools of dance.
The mission of the Coppin State University Dance Ensemble is to provide each student with a comprehensive academic and performing learning experience designed to develop their personal and professional career goals. Students are encouraged to hone their critical and creative skills by attending guest workshops and performances. The directors and guest choreographers concentrate on exposing students to the unlimited opportunities in the dance field by "stretching" the imagination of each and every dancer in the program.
The Coppin State University Dance Ensemble is open to dance majors and minors interested in performing African, modern dance, jazz, hip hop, ballet and tap. All Dance Company members are required to register for at least one dance technique class per semester, and attend monthly meetings and movement workshops.
