Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Welcome from Department of Curriculum & Instruction

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, we welcome you to our webpage. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is comprised of ten dedicated and experienced full-time faculty members who are committed to preparing education majors to become reflective facilitators of learning. With areas of expertise in elementary and early childhood education, reading, developmental education, holistic education, and parent involvement, our faculty are well-equipped to serve the diverse academic interests and needs of our education candidates, giving them a solid pedagogical foundation toward their success as a teaching professional. Faculty provides continuous academic advisement from the beginning of a student's academic career, insuring constant awareness of a student's academic progress toward timely completion of their program of study.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is comprised of two undergraduate degree programs (Early Childhood and Elementary) and three graduate programs (Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Reading, and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction). The Early Childhood program consists of two tracks, a Certification track and a new, Human Development track. The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction has two methods of instruction, campus-based and distance-learning. Please explore the links on the website for more information regarding our academic programs.

We thank you for your interest in Coppin State University and particularly your interest in joining the ranks of the esteemed education professionals who have graduated from our programs with a culturally rich, academically sound, and socially conscious foundation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Department at (410) 951-3066. We look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tina M. Stevenson
