Minor in Nonprofit Leadership

Certification Nonprofit Management

Since 1997, the American Humanics program at Coppin State University has provided academic instruction to approximately 200 students enrolled in the University's Introduction to Nonprofit Leadership and Not for Profit Management Courses.

American Humanics, Inc. (AH) is a national alliance of colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations dedicated to educating; preparing and certifying professional to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations.

A CSU student who is interested in pursuing a future career in nonprofit leadership can acquire a minor or become certified through Coppin State's Nonprofit Leadership/American Humanics Program.

Nonprofit students seeking certification must complete a program totaling 21 credit hours of course work.
These courses include the following:

- SOSC 340  Introduction to Nonprofit Leadership3 CRS
- MNSC 300  Human Relations and Organizational Behavior3 CRS
- MNSC 310  Marketing for Managers3 CRS
- MNSC 336  Not For Profit Management3 CRS
- RECR 339  Problems in Urban Recreation3 CRS
   (or)
SOWK 390  Macro Social Work: Social Work in Community Organizations
   (or)
Alternate Course approved by Program Director
- SOCI 409  Internship3 CRS
- MNSC Internship3 CRS

*CRS = Number of course credits
