Navigation Basics

How to Navigate this Site

  • On the top left corner of every templated page contains a Navigation link.
  • Mousing over this link activates a DHTML site map.
  • Translation: You have the ability to get to almost any portion of the site from any page on the site.
  • Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the organization of information on the menu. You will find that it replicates the menu on the home page.
  • The Library, Calendar and Search links are to be found on the same level as the Navigation link to the extreme right of every page.

Going Home

There are several ways to return to the home page from any internal page on the site:

  • Click on the last link of the Navigation Site Map Menu (the DHTML menu discussed above)
  • Click on the Home button to the extreme top right of any page
  • Click on the Coppin State University white shining graphic on the extreme top-center of every page
  • Click on the Coppin Home Page (i.e. the last) link found under every sectional main menu (the menu under the picture)
  • Click on the Coppin State University underlined link found at the bottom-center of every page

Menu Standards

The latest release of Coppin's website features standardized menus for the ease and consistency of navigation. Each topic or section on the site contains at least one Sectional Menu. This menu is located just below the main graphic on the upper left portion of the page. The current topic being explored is indicated by the highlighted blue background.

External Topics
The sectional menu essentially deals with topics within the chosen section. If a Section Menu contains links to pages in a completely different portion of the site, those links appear orange-colored with a redirect (») symbol at the end. For an example, look at the sectional menu for this page.

Sub Menus
Of course, some topics may need to be explored at greater length than one page will reasonably allow. Our sub-menus were developed to indicate navigation flow thus providing an uncomplicated means of surfing our site. Sub-menus appear to the top right of the data section of the page. Like our regular menus, sub-menus highlight the current topic being explored. When pages in a sub-menu are selected, the "parent topic" from the Main Sectional Menu remains highlighted in salmon. For an example, click here.
