The Office of Freshman and Undeclared Major Advisement coordinates a program of academic advising which includes individual advising by both professional and peer advisors.
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is a free academic support service available to all Coppin State University students. Each of our four labs provides basic, intermediate and advanced level of instruction and tutoring.
The Coppin State University Career Services staff views career planning as a developmental process that must be fostered during the entire period of a student's involvement with the University. The Career Development & Co-op Center has merged with various departments to formulate the new Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD).
The Center for Counseling and Student Development at Coppin, is staffed by licensed psychologists, licensed professional counselor, license social workers, certified addiction counselors, licensed professional counselors and peer educators to assist students in developing perspectives which will enable them to take full advantage of their experiences at Coppin.
Under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Coppin State University has designated the Disability Support Services Program (DSSP) to facilitate and coordinate disability support services. The DSSP is designated to ensure equal access for all qualified students with special needs who request services. Requests for information or services should be directed to the DSSP Counselor located in the Grace Hill Jacobs Building, Room #806.
A student who has officially declared a major and who has been accepted into a major program is assigned an individual advisor, usually a faculty member, who works with no more than 25 students. Students should confer with their faculty advisors at least twice during a semester to assist them in planning their course schedule, and to discuss academic performance and career goals.
The major purpose of the Freshman Seminar is to articulate to new students that the college experience is most appropriately one of self-direction and stimulation. To aid in this process, the College requires that each newly admitted student take a one-semester Freshman Seminar course.
The Coppin State University Health Promotion/Wellness Center is staffed by health care professionals and para-professionals who will provide on-campus emergency services in cooperation with the Office of Public Safety.
The Office of Housing and Residence Life has spaces available for living on campus in the Flossie M. Dedmond Center for Living and Learning. The 300 bed residence hall, is designed with all the conveniences of home.
The philosophy of the Coppin State University Counseling Center's International Student Services Program is to provide an information and support system that will establish and/or enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth and development of the international student population.
The Student Support Services Department provides a number of services and activities designed to meet students' total needs for personal and academic growth and development.
