Institutional Advancement

Designed and orchestrated annually to generate unrestricted gifts are the programs under the umbrella of and referred to as the activity of “Annual Giving”. The Annual Giving Programs function is to attract and acquire gifts that are given every year and are not restricted for a particular use or purpose.

Such programs are directed at an audience consisting of primarily Coppin alumni and secondly other constituents considered as friends of the institution. The institution’s friends are categorized within the context of individuals, corporations, business, churches, etc.

Gifts generated by annual giving programs create and maintain the Annual Fund, which is housed within the Coppin State University Development Foundation, Inc; the gift repository for the University. The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of Coppin’s fundraising efforts, as the consistent acquisition of discretionary dollars for use in addressing the current needs of the institution is critical. When needs emerge as a result of operating expenses, inadequate program support dollars; or students’’ needs, dollars from the annual fund are available because of their undesignated nature.

Whenever contact is made during a phonathon, via the mail, or in the course of your attendance at an event or special program, you have been reached through the annual giving efforts geared to enhance the unrestricted income for Coppin State University.

As well, these programs, conducted to generate annual contributions, provide a connection with alumni and other valued constituents. Our alumni and friends, through their annual contributions, are vested investors in the success and future of this institution.
